Game Night is a small, age-based group where kids and teens get together to play cooperative and strategy-based tabletop games.

The focus is on having fun with peers while naturally practicing things like teamwork, flexible thinking, problem-solving, conversation, and handling the unexpected moments that come with playing games together.

Groups are facilitated by Ellen, a veteran speech-language pathologist who specializes in social communication. She will step in with light social coaching as needed.

Game Night is designed for verbal, school-age kids and teens who enjoy games and would benefit from more opportunities to connect with peers.

Participants must be able to:

• Independently communicate their ideas to peers

• Read and follow game directions at an age-appropriate level

• Participate in a tabletop activity for 45 minutes

• Follow group expectations

• Manage their behavior safely without one-to-one adult support

The level of independence expected changes with age. Elementary participants receive more help learning the games and thinking through strategy, while middle and high school participants take increasing responsibility for managing the game themselves.

Neurodivergent kids and teens are very welcome -- in fact, Game Night was designed with them in mind.

Game Night meets on Fridays for 45 minutes.

Each semester includes 13 Game Nights for $600, paid as one flat semester fee. One additional date is reserved in case a session needs to be canceled by Cheerful Chatter.

No, one adult must stay at all times.

Because Game Night is a recreational group and only one staff member is present, one caregiver for each participating family must remain in the office during the group.

You’re welcome to relax in the waiting room or parent room, chat with other parents, read, work, or bring something to do.

Because space is limited, we’re unfortunately not able to accommodate siblings during Game Night. Thank you for helping us keep the space comfortable for everyone.

Game Night is a recreational social group — not speech therapy or a structured treatment program.

Game Night is about fun and connection — with enough structure and support to help kids join in, engage, and get to know each other.

Children and teens will play, laugh, solve problems, negotiate, win, lose, and figure things out together.

There are no formal evaluations, treatment goals, therapy plans, or progress reports. Instead, our speech–language pathologist facilitates the group and provides social coaching to keep the night fun and the game moving forward.

Each age group follows its own game lineup, chosen to be fun, appropriately challenging, and manageable within the Game Night format.

Depending on age and semester, games may include Zombie Teenz Evolution, one of the Horrified or Forbidden games, The Initiative, Funkoverse, Kinfire Chronicles, or other cooperative or strategy-based game.

The challenge builds as the group gets comfortable — and kids help read the rules, set up, play, and clean up as independently as is appropriate for their age.

Because Game Night is a small, semester-based group, missed sessions cannot be refunded, credited, or made up individually.

If your child misses a week, they will simply rejoin the group at the next Game Night.

Game Night requires a minimum of four enrolled participants to run.

If a group does not reach minimum enrollment, it will not begin and any payment already collected will be fully refunded.

In all other cases, enrollment is nonrefundable.
